Matthew Sweet, MD is a fellowship trained, board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee joint replacement surgery. His focus is on diagnosing and treating hip and knee arthritis and he has expertise in complex primary hip and knee replacement, revision (re-do) joint replacement, partial knee replacement, minimally invasive and technology-assisted surgery, and outpatient joint replacement.

He performs hip replacements primarily through a direct anterior approach. Additionally, Dr. Sweet treats failed and infected joint replacements, fractures around implants, hip abductor tendon pathology, and other orthopaedic injuries, such as fractures of the hip, femur, tibia, or ankle.

Dr. Sweet was born and raised in Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan. He received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in Adult Hip & Knee Reconstruction at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, FL.

Dr. Sweet has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and presented research at national conferences. He is passionate about joint replacement and innovation in the field of arthroplasty. Outside of his professional commitments, he enjoys spending time with his family, ice hockey, and being on the water.

He believes in caring for patients like family and it is his personal goal to provide exceptional, high quality orthopaedic care to every one of his patients.
