What are Nonsurgical Knee Treatments?

Dr. Sweet offers a variety of non-operative treatment options for knee pain and arthritis.

The most common non-operative modalities utilized are anti-inflammatory medications (when not contraindicated), topical anti-inflammatory medications/analgesics, heat/cold therapy, formal physical therapy, home exercise program, bracing/orthotics, activity modification, weight loss/weight control, and joint injections.

Dr. Sweet strongly encourages the avoidance of narcotic pain medications for long-term management of joint pain, in accordance with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Our practice offers multiple different injections, including corticosteroid injections (most common), viscosupplementation (gel) injections, and platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections.
